iOS apps raking in the cash over Android
A fresh set of stats from CCS Insights and Distimo (via) has indicated that apps on iOS are currently making more revenue than that of Android. Looking at the 200 highest-grossing apps only, the iPhone app store makes some $3.34 million a day, while its iPad counterpart makes $2.04 million. Despite a 31 percent growth in January, Android apps only reached $679,000 per day. That’s less than 13% of the iOS total revenue.
Over 60 percent of the iOS revenue was generated through in-app purchases in January. In February that rose to 73 percent, or 79 percent for just iPhone apps. February saw a 27 percent drop in total iOS revenues, largely thought to be because of the anticipation of the new iPad.
