Post-Double Fine Kickstarter sees huge increase in videogame funding
Double Fine’s massively successful Kickstarter drive didn’t only deliver the green for Double Fine Adventure, but Kickstarter as well.
Videogame projects on the crowdfunding service pulled in $1,776,372 in the service’s first two years. Since the Tim Schafer studio did their thing though, the site has seen $2.9 million . Or $6.2 million if you want to include Adventure.
Furthermore, Double Fine’s project attracted 60,000 new donors, who have now funded other projects as well. The second most successful videogame-related project right now seems to be that of Brian Fargo’s Wasteland 2, which has, with over two weeks to go, pulled in $1.8 million. That’s twice what was originally asked for.
